As a teacher, I will strive to help my kids prepare for their future in a way that is
memorable to them. My personal goals are to always be encouraging to my students regardless
of their status. I want my classroom to be a place where all students feel welcome and safe, a
place in which we create our own culture of learning, fun, and acceptance. I also hope to instill in
my students a sense of hard work. I want them to know that in order to succeed, they need to set
a goal and work towards it. My students will do more than just memorize facts, so I will give
them work that requires them to think and use their imaginations. I will use an interactive
teaching style that requires them to be involved in the classroom. Everyone will have an
opportunity to give their input. My goals are to give my students a good sense of  work ethic,
personal values, and a great education. My success is equal to my students success. My joy is
equal to my students joy.

Experiences using Technology

I work in a very small, very private school in which funds are limited. We are "technologically delayed" so to speak, so my experiences using technology in the classroom are very limited. Last semester during practicum, I experienced the use of a smart board and document camera for the very first time. It was amazing! I thought it was the most amazing addition to the classroom, while the students had become indifferent about it because of their continual usage. I loved the variety that having a smart board adds to the classroom, and it is very interactive which is always a plus in education. One down fall that I noticed about the smart board and document camera is that it required some, if not all, of the lights to be off; leaving the room very dim and dark. I found myself yawning every time I was in the classroom, even though I am accustomed to being up and working during the early hours of the day. So I figured, if I'm tired and I am an adult, then there is no doubt that these students are also feeling drowsy having the lights off a majority of the day. This brought me to the conclusion that, like all things, there needs to be a happy medium. Meaning technology should not be used during every hour of every day, it is important to maintain a balance between all of our resources in the classroom.

Technology Integration

As previously mentioned, technology in the classroom can be a great thing, but too much of it can have its downside. Having no technology, also has its downside. So I plan to integrate technology in my classroom. This can include the use of different websites such as Quizlet, Cahoot, or Plickers. These are sites that can be displayed on the projector, and used as review games. The use of laptops can also be integrated in various subjects, in order to provide that technology experience to students. They need to become familiar with the use of computers and other technology in order to be prepared for higher education and the adult world that awaits them.

How will I use Technology in the Classroom?

I plan to use the websites and resources previously mentioned. I will also use technology as a means of communication between myself and the guardian: Class DoJo, email, student portals, etc. Technology is an ever growing world, in which I plan to take advantage of. I also plan to use audio-books and video clips to enhance different learning experiences.
